Luggage – 1 Carry on backpack. 1 Rucksack or regular luggage. We use a courier service to ship the big bag from hotel to hotel. When we walk we use the lighter bag.
Clothing – 5 underwear, 5 t-shirts. 10 socks (merino wool ie smartwool) 2 zip off cargo pants (light weight), 1 Fleece, 1 Rain Poncho that covers the backpack, 1 set of Pajamas, Plan to do laundry once on the trip.
Shoes – recommended shoes for walking on relatively flat terrain – HOKA are an example of the cushioned soles you want. Hiking boots are at your choice. I do not think the sidewalk and street walking are ideal for boots. 1 Sandals – you want to air out your feet at the end of day. You could be sporty and bring the leather Jerusalem cruisers or do with your shower flip flops. I would not recommend walking between towns with sandals.
Diabetes Supplies – 1 month worth of pump supplies and cgm equipment. 1 tube of glucose tablets, plus one plastic jar of 50 to resupply. 1 Glucagon pen.
Hiking poles – They are a benefit. Your choice to bring or not. If you do, make sure you buy the rubber bottoms so that we aren’t click clacking our way across the camino.
Medical Equipment – Contact your pump supplier. They usually have back up pumps on loan for holidays. Check with your CGM provider as well. A back up transmitter would be advisable.
